Hiking and Viewing at Flat Top in Anchorage

My Perfect Car for Camping.
September 10, 2013 When I decided to buy myself a new car for my 40th birthday a couple of years ago one of my main goals was to get something that would work for car camping.  I love to camp, but since I camp alone frequently I prefer sleeping in my car as opposed to a tent.  It has nothing to do with not liking to sleep in a tent; it’s more about safety.
I knew I would need to get a SUV not just for camping but because it would be the most versatile car.  And, since I’d only have one car, it needed to be versatile.  I also wanted American made.
In the past, I’ve owned SUVs and one of the most uncomfortable parts about sleeping in one was the inability for the seats to fold completely flat.  So, I added “fold flat” seats to my list.  Hands-free and On Star were bonus accessories.
When it came down to it, the Chevrolet Traverse met all my requirements and then some.  I love my Traverse.  I’ve done two long road-trips with it and a few weekends too.  I’ve probably slept in my car more than 30 days in the 3 1/2 years that I’ve owned it.  I even chose to sleep in my car (in a Walmart parking lot) after I had already paid for a campsite.  It was in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada.  The campsite just didn’t seem safe…mostly for my dogs…due to a pitbull wandering around.
Exterior.
Interior with Air Mattress.
And, still a ton of extra room.
Do you enjoy car camping?  If so, is your car comfortable.
This is a list of additional items I would bring on a road trip.  For a list of personal items,.
Hiking and Viewing at Flat Top in Anchorage, Alaska Whenever I’m asked for places to see in Alaska (or more specifically Anchorage) Flat Top makes the cut.  The main.
Rendezvous Caye – December 10, 2010 Today was to be the first day of my three day sailing trip along the Belize Barrier Reef with Raggamuffin.
